“We give this actor an Oscar for helping dogs in need! Woof, woof!”

There are thousands of homeless animals that come into shelters and rescue groups each year, some of which were from broken or abusive situations. That is why Tom Hardy and PETA have teamed up to help dogs, and bring more awareness to the cause. This actor not only takes his activism seriously, but also is a loving dog dad himself.

Why Tom Hardy and PETA Have Teamed Up to Help Dogs

Check out The Revenant star Tom Hardy with his biggest fan and beloved dog, Woodstock aka Woody. It was love at first sight when Hardy saw the homeless canine roaming the streets while filming Lawless.

Unfortunately, not every dog is as lucky as Woody. Every year, more than 6 million dogs and cats end up in U.S. animal shelters, and half of them have to be euthanized simply because there aren’t enough good homes. Countless more end up on the street, where they may starve, freeze, get hit by cars, or suffer from other abuse. That’s why Hardy and PETA are encouraging caring people to adopt from local shelters and never buy from breeders or pet stores, which only exacerbate the homeless animal overpopulation crisis. It’s great to learn why Tom Hardy and PETA have teamed up to help dogs, and that he is so dedicated to the cause. It didn’t take him long to notice a homeless dog on the streets while on the set of his film, Lawless. What perfect timing for that to have taken place.
